Buoy Deployment
In nautical terms, an anchor buoy is a floating object that is attached to an anchor. There are two main types of anchor buoys. An anchor retrieval buoy is object that aids in the raising of an anchor. A mooring anchor buoy is a floating device that is secured to the ocean floor and is used as a mooring tie-off for boats. Anchor buoys can be as large as an SUV or as small as a jug of milk. Materials for an anchor buoy range from steel to foam to plastic balls. Unlike other navigation devices, there is no internationally agreed upon color scheme or shape that designates an anchor buoy. Most are painted in vivid colors to help boaters see them in the water, regardless of the size, shape and material used.

Marine Salvaging
Marine salvage is the process of recovering a ship and its cargo after a shipwreck or other maritime casualty. Salvage may encompass towing, re-floating a vessel, or effecting repairs to a ship. Today, protecting the coastal environment from spillage of oil or other contaminants is a high priority. Before the invention of radio, salvage services would be given to a stricken vessel by any ship that happened to be passing by. Nowadays, most salvage is carried out by specialist salvage firms with dedicated crew and equipment.

Jetty Construction
Jetty, any of a variety of engineering structures connected with river, harbour, and coastal works designed to influence the current or tide or to protect a harbour or beach from waves (breakwater). The two principal kinds of jetties are those constructed at river mouths and other coastal entrances and those used for the berthing of ships in harbours and offshore where harbour facilities are not available. Jetty like structures may be built out at intervals from the banks of rivers where a wide channel must be narrowed to concentrate the current and thus help maintain a navigable channel. These structures—variously termed spurs, spur dikes, and groins—may also be projected from the concave side of a river to retard bank erosion.
